Homes,R 1959 Erolia alpina 6 August Barrow, Alaska Groups of 6-8 at the exposed mud flats. Several young birds were seen and five were collected. Most seen were in groups of 2-3 juveniles, but no adults were present. 7 August Barrow, Alaska Fewer were seen today than were noted last night. Probably 15-20 were seen, and two juveniles were collected. They were not accompanied by adult. The adults you are molding their body feathers and the back markings are a mixture red and gray feathers. The wing feathers are nearly complete. For to the east, in Thana between Wolf Slough & Skpik Slough, probably 200 of these birds were present - all were adults. No young could be found. There were all molting. Some were further along the nests. 9 August Barrow, Alaska Several adults were noted Footpoint Lake, but no young were seen.
