Erolia alpina
6 August Barrow, Alaska
Groups of 6-8 at the exposed mud flats.
Several young birds were seen and
five were collected. Most seen were
in groups of 2-3 juveniles, but no adults
were present.
7 August Barrow, Alaska
Fewer were seen today than were
noted last night. Probably 15-20 were seen, and two juveniles
were collected. They were not
accompanied by adult. The
adults you are molding
their body feathers and the
back markings are a mixture
red and gray feathers. The wing
feathers are nearly complete. For
to the east, in Thana between
Wolf Slough & Skpik Slough,
probably 200 of these birds were
present - all were adults. No
young could be found. There were
all molting. Some were further
along the nests.
9 August Barrow, Alaska
Several adults were noted
Footpoint Lake, but no young
were seen.
