10 July Danos, Hocku
collected with 2 chicks - prob? The 2nd
or just came in when the first became
excited. The nest frequent with the young
who buzzed - the spot field. Another
chick also collected for pond area - n.d.
11 July Nest #17 located a b.r. censu plat-rock
Yegg - or least 2 chicks in mess &
Scattervel grass slope - no carrf-
vegetation -(grass&frog). One long hill
heard this afternoon.
12 July Hock/ 12 birds located 18 yds south,1
rock salt lagoon - 2 collected were gg -
must be bird who failed to bring 11 going -
or they have moved up for south when nest
was completed soon. (These gg had
incubation patches; one, were being refarmed).
A 0? with 2 young just not 1 came/
broodwds - the 0? & 1 young were collected.
Nest #8 checked again - the "pipping"
egg contained dead chicks - they
have been there was for at least >
days. No seg 1 adult parent was
discovered - the eggs had small holes
(1/4" in dia), where they had pecked Menaceus -
apparent or probably - the low warmth
provided
by the parent may have caused death.
