RT4 1965 E. Ogema 3 July Barrow, Alaska general is consistent When RB-12 was checked - the & sat The egg until I was only webs away - then exploded off the nest & went out a violent destruct-display - with wings out & side fluttering frame ruffles - went shuffling off. She would go about 10' - stop & press herself into small depression & then bolt back. After several scenes, she would shuffle off again. One step - huddle into depression & off again - dummy alarm At high-pitcher squeak noise gone. Finally she sat on the side of polygo - 30' away from me & nest - squealing still bundled up - while I examine nest - she flew out - went a rodent run - New nest - #14 - nest 10.3' wide with 4 eggs + 8 incubators - where fell off the nest when I was 20' away. On slope in tall grass - edge - 15% cover for egg New nest - #15 - Nest 6.1 - with 4 eggs me, bird - who didn't flutter until I were 3' away & then it exploded & went shuff off - as was clear for the incubator.
