23 June Barrow, Alaska
Checked the area of Voth bluff - south east of the
Caveater site - where C.B.'s were fairly common
last year. One km - one was only one bird
(probably a pair located here) further no
display activity was recorded.
24 June None seen in Insect areas. - west of Voth.
25 June [illegible] display activity at a census plot
today. Two birds who flushed from nests
were killed. One display heard
off Ne plots; No flusher - no chasing.
Another nest (#12) located on plot -
NE south end - with 4 egg time. 80%.
No distraction display. Nest located
in a cup (which was used last year
(Stake was still in place)). - eggs: 80%
Covered by nearby grass.
26 June One bird on Elson removal plot - could
not be collected. A pair located at
south end / level ridge - No Giver,
collected 'she had just laid (and he
first egg.' - No display. Seen a bird
In the afternoon - pair was encountered
Elvok - 9 (with very short beak) were
collected; Nest remained close by for
a minute or so - but was out of gun
range. - She had developed eggs,
but none have been laid (at least
