Holmes, R 1962 Eroli\ alpina 62. 13 aug Barrow, Alaska In the p.m. - one was seen heard in The No. 14th - Street Podge area with 6 immatures + 4 adults were present at Britton's Gravel ponds - also, with several mares. Immature-collected- had primaris chironomid larvae in its stomach - no molt as yet. 14 aug 10 immatures, 2 adult at Britton's Gravel Ponds - no indication of family grouping, 4 immatures along fresh lake - 3 collected - all beginning post-juv. molt - but this is not visible externally yet. 15 Aug Only adults seen between carp. vch - Footprint + shovel - FTP - gosling - Dens Refer - near Thorner near Goshen Bridge - all feeding together. Two immatures were feeding at the muder edge of a large lake So. 1 goshen (in canyon with 15 km R.P.). Three mares were feeding in an identical habitat on the west edge (N. Meadowlake) + 4 were along fresh lake. NB adults were in attendance. It seems - in general - that most members have moved toward the coast & are now along the lagoons & gravel pond areas. A few are still inland in private polygons & around the large lakes.
