24 July Barrow, Alaska
Scouted N. VA. No meat plot & VA. stoyl -
Only Duklin found were near the crevice
ponds (5 H. 3 T) & here there was only a
Group 1b. Some feeding records were taken -
$1 food was collected. No young were found.
Feeding seems to be mostly in the black
mud ponds or in the surrounding tund
ridge & grassy swales. Mud bird was
found with a group I live on the west
slope of the crevice ridge - but most
could be found in upland locations.
Mud 1b feeding is more by jabs -
while probing r jab predominant in the
mud.
25 July Found 1 & north of magnetic station - but
She was acting as if she had young - & bypassed
odorant trail call (bdence) - but they
Were not found. Lake 1 Aa was found
feeding in a black-mud pond - where the
feeding action was to stone a bill 5-10cm
into the mud - The root along for 4-5
inches - apparently trying to come across
any larvae. When the bill was bent
Stowed Angry! Animal - the head to 1/3
bill was jerked back & forth - made
for a settling motion. The bird had seven
chirp and chews in its stomach.
