Holmes, R, 1962 Erolia alpina 33. 21 July Barrow, Alaska Nest #18 which was present, being incubated - not piping - 14 July - 1330. - was gone Today at 1330. Hatching must have occurred yesterday - 20 July. - No birds were seen in vicinity. Only 3-4 Seals noted in the No. Off Area - on a block round pond. No other were seen between Area - Wobleckle Shore's head ways - except 1iver < Hill Gold Placers, on the south side of the lower ridge. 22 July Herds of 8 or 9 males are present along north of the Siberian Wannigan. This is the only group seen today. Inside 2 lakes with 1 chick in the north sect / Foggy Lake (8 yards from road shore) - The chick was collected. Only one parent dolphin singing with tail up & wrap out t/n down - No other birds - the 9 - stooer acted excited - gave the breezy call to over the rel, rel, rel - sequences. No squeal given by the distracting bird was a high pitched - bes-hee - given over- over again - as it flutters off through the grass in the lake bed. The nest (#14) at the southern end of the plot was checked. The 8? piped off when
