Holmes.R 1962 Erolia alpina 12 July Barrow, Alaska And the 100ft flight making a wide circle around the nest - landing about 200' away. No calls given except the squeak dim Migratory flight. While in flight - a long t. juice made a slight stoop toward the bird - at which time it dropped 5 feet for 1 altitude & increased speed. The LTT flown. In the afternoon - a group of 4-5 birds seen with one - leading away, in poly- porb & grassy interspaces. In 3 or birds also seen - but scattered through Dunes. 4 birds were collected - at least 2 km from Park & all were Q with well-defined Mr. patches - some of the were starting to be recaptured [with pin A]. Were there a float & for 'electro' nest chore or left over - a cheap young ? Only 1 full heard during the afternoon. One other brood was encountered in the marshy, polygynous ground 108' No. of Footprint Lake - Brown +8'. I gave a mouse run - followed it for a fluttering injury flight - the cormorant run again - kept coming back & running out again - gave shriek w/squeak call. "Schree" w/squeak. Stood off from nest's, a breeze. The injured run i open + great ducks, deeply. 48 [illegible] [illegible]
