9 July Barrow, Alaska
Flopping off again. The & stood by + gave
the ras,-rab-ral call many times. She
moved gon- durbat display t while we
walked off - she ran & flew short burst-
while the & gave short display.
No other birds were seen on the plot. Occasional
individuals were seen - The siphon around the
lulu - but no more young could be found.
Two displays were heard during the 4 hours
on the plot [trills - with one short sequence of trills].
Dwindled calls were heard last evening to
early the a.m. [2300-0200] - from the
swanigan.
10 July Two broods encountered near VSH-Direct
Area. One - with & attending - both 2
young - both banded - on 1 July at first
#5 + now was 200 yards east/nearest
&11 - seemingly they had moved
more than 4 miles during the
10 days - also opport? 2 have been
lost.
The other brood consisted of The &
(#1672) with 2 young - 600 yards WE 1
meet area - all were collected.
Dead: One flock of 4 birds
seen SE 7 miles past - feeder -
the marsh [but - Posp-ridge - not proceed].
