Erolia alpina
7 July Barrow, Alaska
Abandoned last year - 7-13-61 as a clutch -
in the locality north of Voth Area. The bird
had well developed brood patches then-
was breeding or has failed.
FEEDING BEHAVIOR. - Predominant feeding
acte was picking at the ground surface +/-
vegetation - but occasional probes into
grassy sod were made - see field notes
shats. - more details in field section.
During 2 hours I obtained plot #107
The - all 3 Dunki trills were heard.
8 July Several individuals seen along the
grass slopes on the N. shore of Wotlssbog
Slough. One nest (#16) was seen then -
with 4 eggs + 6? incubating. No distinct
display was given. At 8' a nest #12,
also did no distinct display - only several
fledge - or bumps. - Again 4 eggs were present.
9 July Skroavik ** The two nests near the Wannigan
were gone - no sign of adults or young. [There
were #9+10 - found a Jun 20th - with 4 eggs - 8?
hatch expected at least by 10-11 July - ]
Nest #7+8 on the plot were also empty - again
no sign of adults or clutch - they probably hatched
I have moved off.
Nests #14+15 were still present [were
been incubated. At#15 - The 9 did not
