Holmes,R 1962 Erolia alpina 43. 6 July Banow, Alaska Back to see if it was being followed. As I continued walking toward a nest - the bird dropped off. This disturbing posture was not seen or heard during the next 3 minutes. Apt Q was in the area. Nest #16. New nest located S.O. of B.R. - new nest #1 (Culled Sandpiper) - contained 4 eggs & 2 were incubating. - flew off Nest number 2 was 100' away - gave 3 short bursts. The bird + 2 bleeps+ landed in a hunched posture, giving a mouse-run display. Saw that distance - the dropped off into bushes - not to be seen for the remainder of the day. The immediate vicinity (25 mi) Wing-up display upon landing is a much reduced part of displays now. Only once was it noted yesterday - the bird after doing a usual display, kept its wings up for only 4 sec before lowering them. 7 July Hawk of 4 found N.O. of B.R. - NE of magnetic station - watched feed - no ammunition between them. Zero were collected + one had a band - R 137839, which was a bird
