Holmes,R 1962 Erolia alpina 37. 27 June Barrow, Alaska After it was 100' or more from the nest site, The bird flew a short distance giving a partial whinny (trill) - landing - running off. in a more normal posture - which he kept up for about Three aer- lengths before flying around & leading back in the vicinity of its nest. Another bird leader flushed from the nest near 5.4 - flew across the nearby pond - in a distracted flight - head forward tail sprigs shallow wing beats appearing and the bird was fluttering across the ground - but this time - it was in the air - 3-1' over the pond. In the evening, 1 display was heard in the distance - during the evening a Pt. Barrow ridge. 25 June Only 3 displays (incl. - 3 und frees orbs - no knee) after dinner my 2 hour walk from Britten to Uoth Area. No counter-singer was singing; perhaps even 3-4 displays were avoided by me - in approaching nest. Nest #3 & 5 were still present; no bird was meditating but egg were warm. # 4 & 6 were gone & There was no sign of adults in vicinity.
