18 June Barrow, Alaska
Aerial display - head from 1 individual along Mt.
Beard Ridge - west of gasoline. Flutter a quivering
wings for 3sec - glide a out stretched down -
curved wings for 6-10 sec - then flush again.
All the while The bird was uttering The churring -
kraa, kraa, kraa,... Once - wings were set at
weld V - feet up gave - when dropped in pitch -
bird lost some altitude - but regained it
when quivering - shelling flight was resumed.
This was all taking place at 78 to 100'.
Finally - wings set at 45° < V for
bird spiralled down - given a loud,
down - out - grill rubbin trypudi
pitch. The bird landed with both
wings held vertical, - The lobby
Then - slowly to c deliberate manner.
Wing still held at verticals reglades
Even though 1 of several primaries are
missing.
20 June Keroabike - 2 nests found - 1 - 200' WNW of warmigan
+1 200' - off Cannigan - both with 4 eggs - in tall
(3-3") grass on large grassy polygons. Several
other birds displaying on The north plot - see
census note. Wings are shell been held
aloft for ½ to 1 sec - pre landing.
