8 June Barrow, Alaska
ran at + displaced #2 - + The two birds were
"leap-frogging" over the tundra on the ground
+ in air. Humbling was seen frequently
when 1 or 2 would pop up in the air + be followed
by another - the bird would fall together
with wings flapping. This went on for
about 15 minutes - before the two sparrows
had flown off + disperse already - moths
began to feel.
9 June Displaying birds seen heard in nearshore
area 1 ground from Butler - north to
Village Slope + Skroovil + Footprint Lake.
Very little chasing was noted (only 2 cases
both on Skroovil center plot).
One bird in Butters Ann gave a poor
distractive display with head over, both
feathers ruffled, tail depressed spread
went shuffling over the tundra - position
of it not seen until three weeks later.
10 June Courtship seen - terminated in copulation. +
with wings held at 45°, tail slightly drooped
head head head high - remaining after 2-
both took flight + ran
