Holmes,R. 1962 Erolia alpina 21. 7 June Barrow, Alaska Displaying bird Seen /or heard near Volk's Britt's Areas and along Elsm lagoon. No aerial call may be ka-rah, ka-rah,... or may be abbreviated as k-rah, k-rah,... (The Sandesling in opposite direction has < Krrrr, krrr.....). A flock (4) was seen E Volk's Arm + agony 16 near Britt's tree. 6 seen Seen along Elsm lagoon. 8 June Generally - very little amount / Chaser was found today - along Elser lagoon - but aerial displaying seemed to be going as usual - perhaps the chaser activity is subsiding in this area. I must check newly opening areas In the evening, several Dulin were watched in the vicinity of Volk's gasline - i bluff above De Rockrose from De lagoon + Volk Creek. One Displaying bird flew i - fed - Sat in a nest Cavets - with tail 1 pointed (folded) Every held high in the air so that the white understeil Cavets & lower abdon were very conspicuous - The bird appeared to press its breast into the cup - it doesn't. The abdomen + appendages were moved from side to side in a waggling [illegible] [illegible] [illegible]
