Holmes,R 1462 Erlic alpina 6 June Barrow, Alaska Several different directions (W-SW-So. +SE) - After about 60 feet - stood by - stepped out 1/4 cup & walked away feeding. Dr. 4 Was about 2' away during this ceremony. [The bird was open severe mm during this Stay in the cup - but from when I was - no sound could be heard). The cup was investigated awhile later. It was about 3" in diameter + 1½" deep. The vegetation was not just marked down a pushed aside but apparent had been picked out & I guess carried away from the site. The bottom / the nest was mostly dark black- colored moist soil with some broke root-end present. There was no loose material either. The bottom & around the sides. It was located - a small hummock - 3' diameter - near - polygyn traps - with 6' / water in it. - It was marked r will be checked again. Dunlin feeding along Elsa Bluff would move slowly - picking frequently at the surface / ground (in well vegetated areas) or probe very shallowly. Deep probing / any kind never not observed
