Holmes,R 1964 Feeding Data E. agapina 2. 16 July Barrow, Alaska Seemed to be swishing mud with three short sequences of rapid jerks. Head Underwater - stayed ~ 2 sq.ft. area. 225 sec - 111x- Lifted head - again work motion as above. - moved 5' from deep water to shore - when it picked once at over the bank at deep water after 2 min spent in preening. 1501 - Bathing - by bouncing left down & splashing water up onto feathers - dip head in - flutter wings - it ruffling feathers - it picked at feather with the tip of the bill - fl ew up a the bank - fluttered & hopped to preen. 1505. Walked 11' away from pool & stopped again to preen.
