Holmes, R, 1961 Erolia algemá 7 July Barrow-Shravik, Alaska 1 pair + 2 luidin. Ads seen on the plot at Shravik. 1 Ad + 1 chick seen colliding in the grassy area, west of Tofugud Lake. 1 group 3 Ads seen feeding together just east of 4.0 on the plot. When flushed, they flew off together + landed 20 yards away + resumed feeding. Another group 3 Ads seen on a flat ridge slope - 1070s east of the main plot. All were feeding within 3' of each other - again flew off together. Are these birds with nest failure?? They certainly must be first non-nesters- since the young can't be raised yet. NB Displays were heard today. 9 July Barrow, Alaska The nest on the B.R. plot (which contained 4 cold eggs on 4 July) had been destroyed by today. One piece of egg shell was there - + This showed signs of breaking, not hatching! - as if predators had taken them. Two displays were heard NTE of 6.0, + 2 were heard EF 16.0. There were probably 2 birds involved in the nest display twice. The display was on a tree - no crane - call was given.
