4 July Barrow, Alaska - 7m
A nest located 36' Eust of the new gravel York
To UAR - almost to Dittowes. Located in
Tall grass, it contained 3 young & 1 piping egg.
The adult was very excited & went into
her distraction display - when she hunched
her tail feathers - drop her wings (not spread
horizontally) & gave a shuffling off on 2
hindfeet giving a "Pii" squeaking note.
Once she returned & did a partial
aerial display. She went inside the display.
4 July - AM
Only 1 bird was seen - FAP's census plot -
See census sheet. The next nest -
was present, but the eggs were cold & no
adults were seen in the immediate
vicinity. The nest & the north-east
The B.P. - had been destroyed - all brown were
missing. A pair was collected over there at the
POW site. The 8 was starting molt
in the mid dorsum.
- Only 1 display
was heard all morning & afternoon.
A few were seen in the afternoon near U.S.B.

One bird watched feeding - 4 young
- low polygon area - 16' peek - 15' from
travel. - N.B. Ridge.
