Holmes, R. 1961 Erolia alpina. 24 June Barrow, Alaska mukluk. The tundra seen all the more deer. Wing molt is progressing rapidly; now all birds are in some form or another. 25 June A nest was located east of the B.R.-town Suit - float plane logrun (see map - RBâ‚‚). It was located in the centre of a large grassy-sedge field - surrounded by old grass - 2-3' high - 4 eggs, 8 cm incubating; 4 not seen. 26 June A nest with 4 eggs found 200 yds east of the receiver site along the B.R. road. Both hens were present. Both had wing molt. The nest was in tall grass, between old willow bushes - two lined with grass. 27 June Only 2-3 birds (pairs) were seen on the census plot at Ikravik. The numbers were noticeably down. On the trip across the north end of Ikravik to an area 500 yds from Footprint + then north who FTP - only 1 bird was seen. It was collected and turned out to be a bird which I BANDDED last year near Ikravik - on 9 July 1965. So now I have a bird I know age - for feather characterisitcs & I know they breed after 1st year.
