Holmes, R. 1961 Erdia alpeus 18 June Barrow, Alaska Several birds seen in VAP vicinity but activity was poor. 20 June Barrow-Kenaiik, Alaska Birds seen - Red-tail Ridge to down to The Lake. Wing molt was well underway in most of their forms - see catalog for wings. Stomachs were generally empty - possibly due to the fact that these birds may have been incubators - who were flushed from their nest. 21 June Three two heard displaying Nervi-misect plots, In The area between The edge of Family logan and The news York road, no RB were seen. This area was cleaned out well during the early period t apparently the vacancies were not refilled. The same but applies to the Beaver ridge near sites. Also, The birds do not seem to be defending lands nearly as actively as in the past. Very few aerial encounters have been noted all season. The general lack of activity probably reflects the current lack of numbers - reducing densities + therefore River encounters. Is it possible that with an early season, That funder in The more southern areas open up quickly to early wood food abundance That The
