Holmes, R. 1961 Erolia aspina 9. 13 June Barrow-Ikrovik, Alaska plot, a good number seemed to be present. Display hovers were seldom scattered. Only through a long time spent on the plot - cover they be discovered. 15 June During an entire morning of driving, only 3 were seen or heard (during frequent stops). Two 8? were overflown; both had immutatus patches? No 8? seen - may indicate that all were on the nest, but worse, The general lack of RB activity leads me to believe that they are generally scarce this year. 17 June During a morning spent along the Bear Ridge, Curtis Mountain - Boulder Ridge, only 1? was seen (others over. The hawks were heard). The nest on the Bear Ridge. In the afternoon - only 2 displaying 8? were in the B.R. center plot. One nest was located on the plot on the east side of the ridge. The nest was located in a grassy area, but the grass was not wholly covering the nest - it was generally exposed. No 4 did not do a mouse run, but flew directly to the nest and landed nearby as I looked at the eggs. A couple of hawks were heard displaying No. 1 vole area during the late afternoon.
