8 June Barrow, Alaska
any time; independent f. glide to vibrating
wings: When hovering flying wings are beat
at an angle from horizontal down - in a smooth
manner. The neck is pulled in, & the head is
slightly tilted.
9 June RB were seen commonly on The plat today
at Idravik, The birds appeared to be paired;
And generally, there was little activity
going on. On the beach ridge in the evening,
a RB was seen flying & or landed it gave
a wing-up-display & trill to a semi-pole
which was about a foot away. The semi-pole
crushed & ran off, the RB followed for a few
feet & then turned & began feeding.
10 June - 1- or 2 pairs seen along ridge when insect
plots are being placed (No. of Traplines IV A+B)
This area seems like it should have more than
birds.
11 June Only two pairs were seen along Pitelker's
Beach Ridge Census Plat. A few were
heard out toward Elson Lagoon.
12 June Several displays were heard - The insect-
Sample area, N.O. 1 Voth's Area.
(Calunda - 10 June had laid 2 eggs, & (her
laid 2 & had another in the arduous).
13 June - Very few birds were seen between bay
& the lakes, but on the Demovik Census
