his wings held at a 45° above the horizontal
& with tail slightly raised (n ~200, ...).
He would then follow behind the & for
several feet + on 3 out 14 case, she
turned and attacked him by throttle
herself in his direction. The & would break
away occasionally to chase a neighbouring &
and would aerial display upon her
return + then would chase the &. After
about 15 min. This riff-raff, one bird (&)
disappeared + only the & was left. He
continued to display + feed. After another
15 minutes or so, he walked toward the
weasel + sat in a nest depression about
6' away. He nestled in, as if to 'round'
out the nest. He then acted disturbed +
finally walked away + took flight. I then
moved the weasel 50' + checker
the site. It was a cup about 1½ - 2"
depth, with well-packed sod. There was
only a few pieces of dead vegetation
on the floor, while some lined the sides
of the cavity. Upon return to the weasel,
I watching, a pair Lenniopus cans
I began to make a nest in the same
site. So it should be interesting
to see what will occur.
