Holmes, R. 1961 5. Erobia algina 8 June Barrow, Alaska Red-backs were observed near the old A.F. site, east of Voth's area. At least 3 display birds (♂♂ presumably) were present. What is thought to be a courtship procedure was noted. The ♂♂ would chase each other back and forth. The ♀ would crowd in a submissive-like posture she would turn tail at the ♂ and take off after him. They would fly awhile, then land & tumble around, flapping their wings together — OR There would be a short flight where both birds flew close together, usually one behind slightly below the other — as a chase.
