Holmes, R. 1960 Erolia alpina 29. 3 August Barrow - So. Barrow 3, Alaska indicate poor breeding success, at merely that they are scattered during this portion of the summer. Even so, it takes a considerable amount of driving to discover to find any at all. 6 August Barrow = Skvoaik, Alaska One individual seen on the plate at Skvoaik. This was the only Redback seen in the tundra today. On the south half of Footground Lake, there were about 75 to 100 Redbacks. Most of these birds were adults. All were molting - both dorsally & ventrally. A tail molt was noted in one other. These collected. The wing molt seems to be nearly complete. There were the most numerous birds in the tundra today. 8 August Barrow, Alaska Two flying juveniles seen north 1 sea mile ridge in the morning. They seem to be very scarce on the herdier road.
