25 July Barrow, Alaska
Very few were seen in a trip Through Uth's
Area, Uth's, Slope + The surrounding
country. No juveniles were noted,
but 2 different Adults were noted
during a mouse-run. M displays
were heard.
26 July Barrow & Skovvik, Alaska
along the east shore of Skovvik, at least
Three Family groups were encountered.
One group had flying chicks, another
had chicks which had not been hatched
more than a day or two. Another
had half-grown chicks. Several
other broods were also seen during the
afternoon. The brood which had just
hatched was attended by both
adults. The 8 displays several
times and gave a loud trill
which brought the young to him.
He She seemed to "muzzle" each
chick to see if it was alright(?).
During this time, he & she stood
nearby giving a rocking trill.
The chicks when forced would
seem on the edge of the slope
to avoid been caught.
