Aimophila aestivalis
June 23 1/2 mi. S. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas
0844 - ♀ to ground walking toward nest. ♂ silent.
♀ now silent. hear chitter series near nest, then young fed at 0845, ♂ still 20-25 yards to NW.
0846 - ♀ to tree to ↓⬇ where gave sharp chip. Then began regular chips. ♀ to tree E (0847.5) to down to ground to 5 ♀♀♀ nest + 25-100 feet at base of pine.
0850 - ♀ up into tree @ NW of nest. Same to ♂ in. ♀ then to free W. then to ground just east of tree E (0851).
0851.3 - hear chitter series then begging - not sure if young or adult makes this initial chitter.
0852 - ♀ up to free to nest. hear soft chitter series. ♀ disappeared ♂ still in same place holding food.
0857 - young begging 230 sec, ♂ dis appeared from perch. pause + then another bout of begging. adult then flew off to SW where sang ~ 20 yards from nest.
085-0901 - ♀ into tree to NW (actually W) with food. chirped to W, 20-25 feet up.
0902 - ♀ dropped to ground + fed ygs. then quiet.
0907 - adult up from ground near base of tree to SW + flies with single chip into free W.
0910 - adult to ground then walks 5-8 feet east in < 30 sec. feeds young, 0911 - flies out to tree to SW + gives several sharp chips.
0913 - adult drops to ground 10-15 feet further SW of nest.
