Amphilela aestivalis
0802 - hear series of chitter + begging notes, but not enough to be sure that young were fed.
0805 - adult drops from 30 feet up in W to ground at base of E. Adult near oak chips loudly, adult near nest flutters + then more chips from near oak.
0806.5 - young begging > 30 sec.
0808.5 - sharp chips 1/2 sec. but not sure where bird is. heard SD singing over nest of hill. Bird is 18' up in tree to NW.
carrying insect > 2" long, holding by one end.
0811 - adult from S free to ground.
0812 - young fed. Adult did not fly off from any of nest.
0824 - heard occasional short series of chitter notes while SD singing to SW.
0825 - Young fed. Adult then into tree to NW where began chipping. Heard start of D song then chitter series followed by more sharp chips + several series of soft chitters.
0828 - adult from trees to 100' W to E, where chipping sharply then to S more pine farble root + finally (0830) to ground 20 feet east of nest. SD singing to SW.
0831 - both birds silent. 0832 - SD singing to SW, has food in bill. a 40-50 yards from nest. (18'=18' up; 1/2" dia)
0834.5 - SD to 20 yards to SW of nest, sitting quietly
0840.5 - F up into small live pine just west of me with grass hopper in her bill. As she flew up gave 2 sharp chips + faint chitter series. F on bare part of live branch (4' up & 1/2 way from trunk on 18" branch.
