LLW015 1964 Amphibola aestivalis June 23 1 1/2 mi.s. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas 0723.5- #2 drops to ground. hear series of chitter notes + begging. 0724- young fed. adult flies out to small tree to E. 0724.5- young begging again + bird in tree to E strings soft song. 0725- flies to N E to top of 7' live pine - lands in top of arale cluster. can hear 3d across hill not singing. this bird then flies to tree between me + nest (other 3rd still singing) then drops to ground. 0730- adult flies in from SW about 50-75 yards carrying green insect. chirping sharply from tree 20-30 yards to SW flies 1/2 way to nest + lands 7 up at top of small oak. On lower branch right next to leaf. Then drops to ground a 1/3 way to nest. 0734- # flies up from just behind me + sings once while feeding food. 0734.5- young begging. 3d singing (3 songs) while f feeding. 3d to S of nest only 20 feet from me + a 15' up. 0735- F flies out to NW carrying a fresh sec, flies across road. 0736- # flies to ground 1/3 way & nest. 0736.5- Young begging as 3d feeds. (It then flies off to NW 50+ yards where lands + sings once. 0755- bird sharp chirp to SW of nest. 0758- yq. begging > 30 sec. adult then flies to N W into top of small oak then to top of dead 8-10 foot stub. slips sharply regularly then flies to ground at base of small oak.
