LLWolf 1964 39 Ariophila aestivalis June 23 1 1/2 mi. S. Boiling Springs, Jasper Co., Texas 0621.5 - hear young begging + other adult flies into tree just E of me, (25' up). Then to tree between me + nest, 15-18' up; 1/2" dia. 0623 - short period of begging by young adult from tree between nest west [illegible] east. drops to ground after other adult flies up into tree E. 0625 - young begging with adult in E, chirping softly with food in bill, 0629 - young begging, adult still up in E, chirping softly. 0630 - I think adult which just fed young flew from [illegible] of nest to disappear 50+ yards to the S of nest. 0631 - adult from E down to ground, hops into limbs on west side of this tree. back to center now only 8-10' up + quiet. 0637 - hear short begging period as one adult gives very short series of chitter notes. 0639 - see other adult in tree to SE, carrying at least a 2" baby bird or green larva. 0642 - this adult flies up from ground near nest still carrying food lands in NW. Adult in E drops 2 successive branches lower, one at both chirping softly. 0643.5 - adult in W drops to ground, 0644 young begging for >30 sec, then adult flies up from nice base of W to tree to SW - chirps sharply several times + leaves. 0646 - adult in E changes positions several times + drops to ground, then flies up into tree to S as still carrying food.
