33 LL Wolf 1964 Aimophila aestivalis June 33 (1/2 mi. S. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas the close to nest drops into grass still farther East & one farther away flies into tree nearby. Bird in tree flies (between me + nest) lands 50 feet to N. of nest (25' up; 2" dig), then down to ground 20 feet to east of this tree. Now both birds on ground & silent. 0612 - Can hear another S singing 100+ yards to east-just over crest of hill. 0613.5 - Hear young begging for > 30 sec. 0616 - hear series of chitter notes off to NE of me 30-40 feet perhaps 2 adults met in foraging 0617 - short begging by one or two birds followed by sharp chirp from adult. S East of Hill. all N + S directions in notes are reversed. nest changed up to 0900 when caught mistake 5 N swamp pine profect E O o W K - nest 20 yards me snag oak dead shd. & small pine pine from which he sang.
