32 LLW014 1964 Amophila australis June 23 1/2 mi. S. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas Stopped on way to this nest site at nest 1 mi. S. Still one egg in nest. One adult ~50 yards to NW chipping from perch 20 feet up. Perhaps my checking contents has caused her to desert. A young in nest 1/2 mi. S. show marked crouching in nest on V approach. All 7 are facing to entrance 2 in front + 2 with heads on their partners. Forest. ) 0549 - adult into tree to W-75 feet with katydid in bill. Chipping excitedly. On dead limb (20' up 1/2" dia). To tree to SEW (0550), Up into tree W. - now 35' up. (1/2" dia). Other adult to lowest limbs of tree to SSW (15' up) 3/4" dia). Upper bird comes lower in W. 0552.5- same bird drops to ground at base of tree W, Bird in tree to NW moves to end of limb. 0554- young Begging. 0554.5- adult flies from ground to NW 30-40 yards ather chipping then back closer to nest to sit on top of 10 foot stub + chip. 0558- Game 1 stub. 0559.5- adult in tree to SSW still there chipping softly occassionally. Other adult moves by in on ground ~ 12 feet away. Feeding bill. Chipping sharply. Chipping decrease both in frequency + intensity as she approaches nest. Usually silent for several seconds before hear young begging. 0604- hear young begging - being fed by adult while approaching thru grass. 0604.5- adult in free to NW drops to ground between trees E & W. 0606- Hear young begging. 0607- one adult flies 40+ yards to NW. Other 20 feet to East.
