LLWLF 1964 30 Aimophila aestivales June 22 (1/2 mi. S. Boy kin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas) can at least 30 feet so was within 10-15 feet of our hoxing thru grass. Chipping nearly stopped by 0700 then stopped entirely. occasional chips (0703-04) 0706 - can hear begging of young so adult must beat nest. 0707 - young grrr, loud chips by adult (+ totting + twing thru flods) 30 feet to NW - prob. same bird on lowest dead limb (12' up) (1/2" dia). 0720 - ? has disappeared & is now silent (Neuroptera?) 0726 - chipping to S with food in bill - flies in to tree to NW. Here for >15 min. then to tree E. of nest. Finally (0757) to ground E. of nest. Still hear chipping. 0758.5 - quiet. 0759 - hear young begging, pause, then more intense begging. Quiet at 0759.5, 0805 - into E. with food. (grasshopper?) to W side. Down to grounded at 0809. She chipping. 0811 - hear young begging - ? flies off in 10+sec. to tree 75 feet to NW. Then to tree 30 feet to N when bill wiped once + chipping loudly. 0813 - down to ground to E of nest. quiet + apparently foraging in grass around nest. 0821 - up into tree to NW with grasshopper(?). & to tree E then down to ground (0831) to W. of nest. 0832 - hear begging of young. Heard single chip then (0837.5) heard young begging, then single chip. ? must have foraged off in grass + returned to the nest without going up into trees. 0842 - faint chipping from vicinity of nest or beyond. 0849 - saw two adults - both carrying food in tree 100 feet N of nest. one flies into tree to NW. (30 feet).
