28 22 Wolf 1964 Amphibius aestivalis June 27? Pr.E. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas Nest - Tcm. - front to back of cup - bottom gup to top of ene-1/6cm. 6cm across opening. 16cm total front. 15cm total front to back - cup scraped out in sand. few large grass stems (live) at each of nest. top + sides of are - pine needles + large grasses (dead). interior of five grasses as in cup lining - faces to West area in front of entrance open for at least 12". Nest not fouled, but probably was used. Dick found a fledgling sitting quietly in open at base of pine. Could fly 5-10 feet per try. Collected as both parents were dead. 1/2 mi. S. Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas. Checked young in nest. Nest faces to N. so essentially no sunlight during day. 4 young - feathers on back about 1/4" erupted from sheath. ? not around.
