bird on perch dropped to a few down stab (down 6") where
still chipping tail not cocked as much but occasionally
brought up to full 60" or more. bird on ground is silent - probably
the F.
1045 - after many intension movements - tilting forward, fluff
feathers, flick wings & tail. Bird on perch dropped to
ground near base of tree when perked moved off to
SE - can hear chipping from ground. 2 series of chips
(soft) came from shrub. Went over to shrub & after careful
searching for 1st min. found fledgling with tail just showing
crouched on pine needles in shade of shrub. caught it yet, it
flaw several times. 1st & longest flight was 15-20 feet. hand with
flip & crouch down in grasses.
Adult's stayed within 50 feet chipping exactly with tails cocked.
1055 - F#1 sang several times. 1107 - F#1 launched into
series of songs. First sounded almost like "continuous" song which
undoubtedly is 2-3 songs run together.
1112 - F#1 sang continuous song - 3 songs together - after
ting silent for 3rd minutes. Then pause & (soft song.
1117 - F#1 stopped singing.
1119 - F#1 singing occasionally... parents of fledgling still
nearby & chipping, but chipping not as frequent.
1121 - F#1 silent; F#2 sings till 1 stops at 1122.
1157 - one of pair still chipping T = 1/3 sec.
