LLW01F 1963 Aimophila sanichristi August 16 3 mi E Tukuran-tepec, Davao. 3 birds Recording ♂ vocalizations when another bird started chatter. ♂ flew to same bush - 30-40 feet away - & began chattering also. A 3rd bird arrived & all flew into than forest. Collected ♀ & she had baby brood patch. Would press 3rd bird was a full grown young essentially then post-prio.molt. Pairs & habitat Except for this one group of 3 saw only pairs of birds today. Flushed a lone bird from grass in power line cut. It flew immediately back into than forest. Probably this species uses the cleared areas for foraging & the ♂♂ come to the edge frequently in the early morning to sing from elevated song perches. But the core habitat for the species is apparently the dense than forest. ♂ whisper song Pair came into "schuss" & down. Hand bird behind-⊖ giving very soft version of . - . - ....... song. Probably soft enough to be a whisper song. Was repeated 5-10 times & then bird flew 10 feet & gave one more followed immediately by regular volume version of same song. Did not hear ♀ join in with any sort of vocalization. Collected ♂. 2295 tail molting 4testes 6x7mm 2297 old brood patch; no molt. ♀
