Aimophila sunivhrosi
August 15 5 mi. E. Tehuantepec, Oaxaca
Several times. Then they disappeared, but were probably among the singing & calling birds that could be heard in several directions. About 20 minutes later pair came in from NW. Worked thru trees & shrubs about 8 feet up until one bird was in small tree just above nest. During approach one (2?) gave solo chatter & other (??) gave occasional series of chipping notes almost fast enough to be a trill. This bird came down toward nest while other worked higher in tree. Higher one flew off short ways & 2? followed. Back again in about 10 min. & thru same routine. At 835 pair returned alone & hopped down 8 foot tree next to nest until about 1 foot above ground. Giving occasional chip notes & several series of chips. When so close to nest flew both up & about 10 feet to east. Then appeared to try to ground but soon reappeared in almost same spot when joined by other member of pair. One bird then flew to tree next to nest & hopped around 2nd flew off 20+ feet to sw. 1st followed in 15+ sec. Could hear solo chatter & chipping from that direction.
At 8830 both birds flew into two branches ~ 10 feet up 30 feet to SE. & then worked gradually toward nest ending in small tree next to nest before flying off to SW. Gave occasional chip notes on this approach.
