Amphila munichrasti
August 14 3 mi E Telurantepec, Oaxaca
♂ singing from ½ way up in 10 foot liguan. Then to top of
adjacnt 15 foot tree to sing. Another started singing to west.
The 1st flew in that direction + 2nd flew to east. Out in top
of nearly defoliate liguan when sang+chatter. Both
♂'s went thru slick+stretch displays while singing.
Display not directed exactly toward other bird. After
2-3 minutes two birds exchanged places on branches.
A 3rd bird - prob. ♂ or ♀/ - worked over to tree + all
flew off. Unable to see if chase.
0615- 1st bird back to "territory" & singing from top of
10 foot tree. Flew to west when gave chatter call.
Moved to another location.
Have three pairs spaced along cut for electric lines.
At about 20-25 yards + 10-15 yards. Each pair in tree
or shrub & only one pair not exposed. All were
chattering. Pair 3 flew across cut when another
bird(s) started chattering over there. Pairs 1 & 2 kept
chattering - seemingly in response to chatter of each
other (pairs). Saw both members of each of these
pairs chattering together. 1 held wings out a little
from body + slightly shake. Bill held open + slightly
elevated. Pair 1 had one bird sitting on top branch &
exposed to view, other bird slightly below, hidden from my
angle of observation. Pair #2 had both on branches
