August 10 5 mi E Cuernavaca, 5900±ft, Morelos, Mexico
0730 - pair 3 - heard ♂ sing several short bursts with much longer intervals of silence. Saw one of pair 3 foraging in "Framera") n?½ way up in 25-ft tree. Then flew to ground + heard squeal. One of two then dropped to ground from small shrub + frozed in 6-10" weeds.
0735 - 0755 - ♂2 up onto top of 8 foot dead shrub when churring. E of lava hill by 50±yds. Apparently have lost W end of territory to pair 4. ♂then back into trees 25+yds. N of road.-churring + singing. Moves out to tree 10+yds. from road + slightly further to W where gives loud series of three songs in succession. Flies to trees to NE as I approach. Gives three call on landing, works three trees singing occasionally then flies to shrubs 20+yds to E where sings from 3-4 feet up several songs - Both A+B types - before flying back to W so 50±yds N of road, gives tree call on landing + begins working three trees about 15-ft up. Then drops down toward ground + gives three call followed by squeal - then silence.
0830-0845 - ♂8 singing from bare horizontal limb (12" dia) 8 feet above grazed area. Mostly type A song. Moves to N. 20+yds where begins churring (this after dropping to ground in area of 2-ft weeds + squealing) - then must have circled around to W as heard chir notes from where squealed + then another bird (♂?) appeared on horizontal limb 76±yds to W + also churred. Bird flew down to other bare ground + squealed, then silent.
0906- ♂8 sang five consecutive songs from just SW of where last seen, then silent.
