LLW0/4 1964 Aimophila rufescens August 9 5 mi. E. Cuernavaca, 5900± ft., Morelos, Mexico ♂! continues singing after 5∘° gusts - ♂! singing all loud songs from 60+ yds. to NW. Mostly type B song. Stops for 3± minutes at 1147 + then starts again from slightly farther to NW. 5∘° remains gust & may have left tree. 1156 - ♂! ceases singing. left area at 1200. August 10 5 mi. E. Cuernavaca, 5900± ft., Morelos, Mexico 0557-0620 - found ♂♂♀ singing from top of 6 foot dead stub 26 yds. N of road in center of territory 2. Unable to see him in pre-dawn light until flew back to NE 10+ yds. when hopped toward lava outcrop + sang several times from ground. Mostly giving churr notes. Moved to E. to edge of lava outcrop when moved up into dead branches of shrub, moved up to 3± feet above ground + churred continually except for occasional single songs. Assumed normal sitting posture during churring with tail + body axis in straight line. Neck not extended + feathers not fluffed. Occasional slight flicks of tail. Moved up to slightly higher perch where continued to churr + sing infrequently. ♂ then flew to W. when lit in tree just east of small road often used by pair 4. Churred + sang then hopped to ground where sang from dead stub 1± foot above ground. Then down to ground to forage for 10± sec. Flew up to tree on W side of small road as I approached + began moving thru trees low, moved about 10-15 feet above ground, churring as goes,
