LLWOLF 1964 Aimophila ruficeps June 14 Molino Basin, E. Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona Recorded single ♂ in early morning then collected it (#2450). Bird moved especially on south hillside. Sang mostly from elevated perches - rocks, shrubs, mesquite. Generally 5-6' off ground. An mesquite was below middle of tree, but in exposed position. Found at least three other pairs - two of which collected - in Molino Basin Campground. ♀♀ singing occasionally. ♀♀ with incubation patches. ♀♀ quiet + inconspicuous - probably incubating. Two collected (pairs were foraging together on ground. ♂ recorded in early morning (6-7AM) was singing rather consistently, but all vocalizations from this species really stopped off by 0730. Birds are spread out on the hillside + grassy flats.
