LL Wolf 1964 Aimophila ruficeps March 15 Big Springs Canyon, Tilden Park, Contra Costa Co., Calif. [illegible] N rock outcrop eucalyptus grove step hill ridge top trail bird here 0945 - [illegible] flew into bush lupines - 18" tall - from uphill. Noted floppy tail flight + smaller size than Zonotrichia. Then flew parallel to slope to east for 10 yards & lit in 4 foot Baccharis in center on bare branches. Disappeared as I wrote notes. No vocalizations heard. Area is [illegible] & small (up to 2 feet tall) Artemesia + lupines. Open areas are grassy or bare but well strewn w/ small rocks. Occasional 4-5 foot Baccharis. Angle of slope is 30° [illegible] N eucalyptus E grass Artemesia + lupines ridge trail
