LL Wolf 1963 Aimophila ruficeps August 9 4 mi. sw. Matatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico Spaced singing ♂♂ found on rocky, scrub-oak hillside with A. mystica + A. notosticta. One juvenile collected + ♀ collected had enlarged vocal protuberance. Probably still some breeding activity. Birds seem to frequent open grassy areas rather than where ground layer vegetation is dicots + thick. August 10 4 mi. sw. Matatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico Birds were are occasionally found in dense oak scrub + several pairs seem to have territories in this type of vegetation but in general they are on more open hillsides than either mystica or notosticta.
