LLW018 1963 Aimophila quinguestrecta July 13 in tree 10 feet up. Bird then flew off after giving several chip notes. Vocal 0705- singing by neighboring o2 seemed to be stimulated when nearby bird starts singing. Generally trill of song is given after short 1+ sec. pause. habitat & foraging due calm foraging - is small gulley - sides 10-25 feet higher than bottom & slope 8 5°±. One large deciduous tree, shrub layer of legumes - 25-50% closure here but more on hillsides. Almost complete herb layer of grasses + herbs apparently just coming up. All is very green. Some dead shrubs + twigs on ground + scattered rocks. Most of last are less than 1 foot in any dimension - about ~ 6". Several bare rocky areas within 20 feet. Birds foraging 10-15 feet in length in 3± minutes. size & model 0730 - o2 singing from 20 feet up in 25 foot mesquite sitting on dead horizontal branch just below canopy. flew uphill 30-50 feet + immediately resumed singing. 5-10 feet down from top of 30-40 foot deciduous tree. Stands ½ of its height, at least above shrub canopy. birds on left part of a small branch, but actually at edge of canopy. 0750 - birds foraging at edges + on rock outcrop. Giving almost continuous series of tzit notes. Alternating occasionally with sharp chrip. Once given after climbing
