LL Wolf 1964 Aimophila mystacalis August 27 16'2mi. ssw. Matatlan, Oaxaca Mexico ku-616 - 3000 +/- at about 3 feet in this area 50 feet x 30 feet. finally disappear off to W. along slope. Birds whabit all slope exposures on which, in this area, the vegetation is essentially the same. NW 0745 - pair moves across slope below me one, at least calling chut, chut ... then break into direct chatter, which is joined by pairs to N across ridge. 0746.5 - another chatter by NW pair. 0755 - walked over to N pair. flushed from more near ground near ridge of hill to 7-8 foot shrub just over crest. got preening. then one + White-winged Dove from clime just downhill flew to the branches of tree 60-70 feet along slope. 2nd bird flew in 30 +/- sec later + chatter dust. both sat [illegible] in tree, but moving about branches then flew downhill + disappeared. a third bird began loud tzut notes from me when pair first seen + moved down to join them. multiple chutters heard several counter-chatter duts across hill quickly to N. also several chatter duts by single pair 0805 - pair E chattered from near crest of line. joined by chatter from across gully then quiet. Another chatter by pair [illegible] often 30 +/- sec. t again "answered" by pair across gully. 0810 - pair N up onto bar, nearly horizontal branch 10+ feet above ground. gave chatter dust sitting 4-6 inches apart facing same direction. one then dropped toward ground moving downhill. other moved 4-5 feet higher in tree + landed on reverse terminal end of cleftures. then
