1 LLW81f 1963 Amophila mystacalis August 12 km 616 on Pan Am. Hwy. S. of Opaque, Qaqaa, 0924 - pair reunion chatter - sounded like both birds - from just uphill above song perch #1. 0936 - pair reunion chatter from approx. same location followed by what then about 15 tzect notes given in turns. 0942 - ♂ singing from new song post uphill from #1 + near where heard pair reunion chatter. Washed over to area where saw & enter wood just material - no sign of nest. While there pair worked in shrubs 10-20 yards uphill. Heard tzect notes + several chirrut notes. At 10:19 one flew along slope followed by 2nd ♂ flew up into song perch #1 & sang for 2+ minute. Then flew off along + slightly upslope; disappeared. 1027 - ♂ back to song perch #1 - singing only partial songs without trill. 1029 - ♂ left + moved upslope. Rufous-napped Whews foraging just below his song perch. 1050 - ♂ singing about 10 yards upslope from a new song perch (#3). Can't see him from my observing spot. 1032.5 - ♂ flew along slope behind me giving "chuck" note. on bird, probably ♀, worked area around me in weeds + grass. Would gradually drop down from shrubs to ground + hop along ground. Twice saw her reach up & snatch at then jerk at nesting material. Did not see her pick up any food. Then she disappeared upslope. Still don't know location of nest + it may be that ♀ is merely picking up r
