July 29 Cañon de lobos, 7mi E. Guanajuato, 7800±ft., Moulas, Mexico
0803 - pitz-a notes from one of pair #1, pitz-a notes from other member
50-75 yds to sw, bird (1st) below tree #2 flies to S 10±yds & chatter.
followed by chatter of pair #3 [crossed out] 75±yds N. & qurey + 75±yds uphill
of pair #1.
0818 - or of sings twice followed by several fizz notes then quiet.
0832- pair #3 & #5 chatter from N side of gully.
0858 - flushed bird (pair #3) from on or near ground 30±yds uphill from tree#2.
went into 3-4 foot shrub thicket when foraged 2½ feet above ground
for several minutes before flying to N. side of gully.
0903 - one flew into gully vegetation + pitz-a then out to S side of
gully 30+ feet uphill from tree#2. continued pitza until joined by
2 other birds. All three flew 10±yds further S. & then went into top of
7 foot shrub + chattered - both wing- flucking. One flew off to S
& then 3rd bird also off tos. one returned + two birds chattered.
then all three in bush & two chattered. one worked down to lower
part of bush (one not chattering #3) + foraged just above ground. two
others flew over toward gully + chatter as third joined them, see
foraging in low shrubs. 1½ foot above ground.
0912- I flushed all three into tree#2 where sat about equidistant
(6-8 inches) apart. Two chattering birds above other one. Then
foraged in tree. One worked to S side when began pitz-a calls.
finally (no time) this one + another flew off to S 10±yds when
chattered twice - interval of 1½ min. - then both back into tree #2
when third still sitting, all three fly over to gully vegetation & hear
chatter. Forage in partly defoliated tree over tops of branches.
