LLW675 1964 Aimophila aestivalis June 20 [illegible] Baylin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas heard low chittering by 2 birds. ? flew into shrub from 30 feet to new that gave the continuous three part song, then several chips + quiet. 0700 - brought rest of equipment to new observation spot. 40 songs from ? + ? not seen since pair routine performance. probably foraging, light water reading (1+ - grass still wet. 0710 - ? into tree (12' up) 200 feet NW of nest, north songs-4 full of grass, at nest for 50+ sec, back to same tree then down to shrub. ? is N of nest + beyond shrub. 0713 - huge thorn tops & pines. 0714 - ? & 2 chips back to shrub, must have been on nest for at least a minute. 0715 - songs 11 0715.5 - ? to nest songs 111 - 25 sec. 7th song ended sharply as ? flew out from nest. songs 11 0717 - ? to nest. ? dropped to or near ground 30 feet to W or NW of shrub. 0718. ? to shrub with single, soft chip. 0720 - ? to nest, 0721 - ? to small shrub beside '2 way pine then to shrub after series of soft chips. 0722.5 - ? to nest. songs 1 or nest for 26 sec. back to shrub with 2 sharp, rather soft chips. 0725' ? to nest with grasses trailing at least bunches behind. out after 40 sec & 3 ?? songs. back to shrub.
