LLWOLF 1964 32 Aimophila humeralis July 27 Canon de Lobos, Nui. E. Cuernavaca, 4800+ft., Morelos, Mexico uphill when other member of pair is foraging on ground a new ground in "mock orange" thicket. Chatter. One then out to N to edge of thicket when perches just above weed layer in shrub. flies to another shrub slightly uphill & then back into thicket. Bird (prob. same one) flies to tree #1 when sits in top dead branches. quiet. hear chipping from thicket + then pit3-a as other bird flies into tree #2 continues pit3-a & bird from tree#1 flies in. lands 7-6 inches away as chatter begins. Flops (flutter, hop) along branch away from other bird until 2 are 15+ inches apart as other moves up one branch. Fluttering left wing as moved down branch, then both, but not so vigorously. then fly off to N across gully where chatter. 0655- pair #3 - hear pit3-a + chips from N. side of gully then chatter + quiet. 07:0. pair #3 chatter from N side of gully then from tree 50+ yds W(west)from tree#2. Then back across gully. 0713- pit3-a calls as bird flies from gully to tree (uphill of tree #2) joined by 2nd bird + chatter. Then drop down into thicket. One then flies to tree#1 when sits quietly on top dead branches. Other flies 1/2 way to tree #1 + gives pit3-a calls from "mock orange" thicket. Bird in tree #1 stays quietly for 1st minute longer then drops down to downhill side of tree#1. other member of pair #3 flies to tree #2+ gives pit3-a calls as pair #1 give 2 chatters from tree & downhill 20+yds from tree#1. Both times in exposed positions - once in subcanopy (7'up) once in canopy (10'up) + facing uphill toward pit3-a calls from tree #2. Then move into center of tree as other birds nearly flies to N. edge of gully. Bird from
